GOLD TO BE REDISCOVERED IN IDAHO SPRINGS
There’s gold in that there town!
Idaho Springs, Colorado, (September 28, 2009) – Modern day virtual prospectors will have a chance to find a one ounce 24K gold ingot in Idaho Springs next month.Idaho Springs is wrapping up its year long celebration of the 1859 gold discovery that started the Colorado Gold Rush in true prospecting style. The grand finale for the 150th Gold Rush Anniversary will take place on November 21 when a drawing will be held and a one ounce 24K gold ingot will be given away.
Throughout the month of October, visitors to the over 35 participating Idaho Springs merchants will find clues to the virtual location of the shiny ingot. Several of the clues will be needed to figure out the location and all the clues are different. Correct entries will be determined and one of those will be drawn at the City’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony on November 21. The lucky, or clever, entrant need not be present to win. There is no cost to enter; only the time and effort to collect clues and decipher their meaning.
The 2009 Gold Rush Anniversary has been organized by the Historical Society of Idaho Springs in cooperation with the City of Idaho Springs. The year long commemoration of this milestone in Colorado history showcased Idaho Springs as well as all of Clear Creek County and the mining industry that grew from those early days.
