 • New Wildlife Habitat Stamp

Posted by jthiessen at Sep 25, 2005 05:55 PM

The new Colorado Wildlife Habitat Stamp takes effect on Jan. 1, 2006. The stamp, which provides funding to protect and enhance wildlife habitat, will give everyone a chance to help the Colorado Division of Wildlife in wildlife protection efforts.

In order to preserve Colorado’s wildlife for future generations to enjoy, sportsmen and conservationists joined together in 2005 to develop the Colorado Wildlife Habitat Stamp concept. Understanding the need to protect wildlife habitat and its economic benefit to the state, Colorado lawmakers approved the stamp.

Beginning Jan. 1 2006, the Colorado Wildlife Habitat Stamp will be required for entry onto any designated state wildlife area and before purchasing a hunting or fishing license. The stamp is $10 if purchased without a hunting or fishing license. When purchased with a license, it is $5 and required on the first TWO licenses purchased in a calendar year. Stamps are free for young people and senior citizens. A lifetime stamp is available for $200.
