question Articles and Photography

Posted by gvalt at Oct 31, 2005 07:24 AM
How is Colorado Explorer going to match up the articles that they receive with the photography that they receive?  I guess my question is how do I know what to write or what to take pictures of for the best chance of getting published in the magazine?

The CE staff will take articles that we have recieved and match them up with photographs that we have recieved.  Just because someone writes an article or submits photographs doesn't mean that they will be used together.  We are trying to get people to write articles without feeling like they also have to submit photos and vica versa.

When we receive an article or a photograph, we catalog those submissions in a database for future reference.  the editor evaluates all the articles and determines a general geographic location for them.  The Art director does the same will all photographs submited.  When we begin the process of building an issue, we look at all the articles and photos that have been submitted in order to pair them up.

We want to help people get published in Colorado Explorer without having to be a good writer if they are a great photographer or vica versa.  If we get someone who is talented in both of these areas, that is great, but not a requirement.
