The Cortez KOA offers many amenities to campers in the four corners region. Only 8 miles from the Mesa Verde park entrance and about 30 miles from the Four Corners monument the camp ground is in a great location just off highway 160. Some other points of interest are the Canyon lands, Ship Rock, and Monument valley. There are two tepees, eight cabins, dozens of tent sites, and several dozen pull through sites. The camper sites have septic and electrical hookups available. A swimming pool and hot tub provide a great way to cool off during hot summer days as well as a game room with a selection of arcade games, family board games, books, magazines, and a pool table available. There is a store that provides basic RV supplies as well as some repair equipment and a great selection of local Native- American pottery, blankets, and art.
With almost 360 views of the surrounding scenery, the camp offers breathtaking views of the Mesa country to the South and the Sleeping Ute Mountain to the West. The setting sun creates a bright red glow on the horizon and the surrounding cliffs turn a deep red and orange. These breathtaking views are the norm at the Cortez KOA and well worth the stay if only for the sunsets. Everyone working at the campground is very personable and gladly stop what they’re doing to talk to you and answer questions about the surrounding area as well as provide some details about the local history.
